Everyone in the world enjoys a good laugh. But there is no consensus on what is acceptable to laugh at. When individuals laugh together, they demonstrate their shared values and viewpoints, but they can also split and divide when they laugh together. It’s possible that “over-the-top” humour can make people feel marginalized and degraded.
Ramachandran’s False Alarm Theory of Laughter said that in a joke, an issue is posed but not addressed. An entirely new way of thinking emerges, one that shows that the perceived danger, threat, or problem never existed in the first place (e.g. the dragon was really just a play of light in the sky). Tom Ballard once said that “Some people believe that free speech in comedy means they should be able to say whatever comes to mind on stage – that’s insane to me,”.
Non-contextual comments, such as the idea that some forms of humour are inherently flawed, are deemed invalid. More fruitful are contextual criticisms, which focus on specific examples of humour rather than broad categories of humour. Even so, it’s not uncommon to exaggerate the number of situations in which laughter is inappropriate. This happened to Chris Rock in 2022 Oscar, how you feel the hair lose struggle in alopecia? How you laugh what alopecia patient disorder? How you mentioned others’ pain in award ceremony or a big gathering? How and why you joke on someone’s illness?
Being a comedian it’s our responsibility to give laughter, to give an environment where people forget their pain, illness and diseases. How you joke on it? Joker have no rules, ethics and regulation because this character assume to be funny by look by actions but comedian should have some standards because they crack the problem and molded the audience view. Will smith become emotional-angry, he hurt when you hurt her better half. Because he not only slap but also convey the message that think before you speak. He also apologies to Chris Rock with explanation that “Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about my Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.” Will Smith in his apology mentioned on Instagram “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive, my behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable”
