The skipper and the stalwart of the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam, has bagged another milestone in his professional career.
With 2515 t20i runs under his name, he is now the most run-scorer in t20 internationals for the Pakistani team. he surpassed the likes of Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik, who have scored 2514 and 2440, respectively.
He achieved this feat in the 2nd match of the ongoing series between the green shirts and Bangladesh, despite getting out on only 1.
Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan Cricket team across all formats, reached the milestone in only 65 innings. In contrast, former top scorer for Pakistan Muhammad Hafeez has scored 2514 in 108 innings. Babar Azam also dethroned the Indian batting giant Virat Kohli to the fastest to 2500 runs. Virat Kohli scored 2500 runs in 68 innings, whereas Babar Azam reached the milestone in just 62 innings.
With 3299 runs in 108 innings, Martin Guptill from New Zealand is at the number 1 spot for the most t20i runs globally. Babar Azam is at number seven behind Virat Kohli(3227), Rohit Sharma(3197), Aaron Finch(2608), Paul Stirling(2570), and David Warner(2554).
Babar Azam has been a star performer for the men in green for the last 3-4 years. He was also the leading run-scorer in the t20i world cup 2021 edition. Leading from the front, Babar scored 303 runs in 6 innings at an average of 60. he was also selected as the captain of the world t20i 2021. In a match against Afghanistan in the group stage of the world cup, he became the fastest batsman to score 1000 t20i runs as a skipper surpassing Virat Kohli. Virat took 30 innings to reach the landmark, while Babar did it in his 26th innings.
